Killing Flowers

For my baptism I knew I wanted hydrangeas for the centerpieces but couldn't find nice ones anywhere! I was getting discouraged when Caitie said her neighbor said the deer were eating all her flowers and she could pick whatever she wanted. Free hydrangeas? Score.  (Shoutout to Caitie's neighbor who I do not know. You rock.)

"shhh, flowers. I'm only killing you."

I made this dress at the end of the summer last year and it's one of my faves. Classic but
still quirky.

Kevin: "Ooo wait! I have a photo idea! Here take my pic." (He legit instagrammed this...)

Sock Hop

Good morning guys! So I wanted to share some photos from the sock hop I went to last weekend. In case you don't know... a sock hop is a 50's themed dance where every wears vintage dresses or poodle skirts and a live band plays and there's lot of rootbeer floats. (Or you fill a cup with just ice cream if you're me)

Probably the highlight of my life was when the older man who owned this 56' Belair pulled me out of dance to get photos with his car. Later he gave me his number and asked me to model with his 60's car for photos sometime. Umm.... YES.

Oh friends you so funny.

Then we had to get some iPhone pics for instagram ya know.

"Ok now strike a sassy pose."
"Wait I don't know how."
"Just touch your hair."

(I made my dress and Alyson's is from Eshakti with a J.Crew sweater)

This photo has so many of my favorite people in it that I love it despite the fact that I'm mid talking.

Easter Sunday

Good afternoon guys! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend/Easter, ate a lot of candy, and took time to reflect on the glory of our Savior. I spent Easter weekend with one of my best friends Amaris! (you may recognize her from here) We hung out at the house Friday and then Saturday we shopped till we dropped in Richmond and around town. Sunday morning we got ready for Easter together before she went home to celebrate with her fam. Good times, good times. I'll do a post tomorrow about our adventures from the weekend, but today I wanted to share some Easter morning photos!

#squad

So this is the dress that I wore to Easter and I obviously made it and it obviously has a bow on the back. Would I even be Hannah Everly without those two things?!?! Well yes. But not a very good one.

My shoes are from goodwill and my earrings I got fro Easter! ( I think my mom got them at New York & Co)

Peace and luv to you all. Talk tomorrow? Great.

P.S. I'M SHOOTING THE SPRING LINE TONIGHT SO PRAY FOR ME BECAUSE I HAVEN'T GOTTEN MUCH SLEEP OVER THE LAST FEW DAYS BECAUSE I'VE BEEN WORKING SO HARD ON IT. But I'm SO excited!

No Makeup Week + Crazy Cat Lady Part 2

So guess who's birthday was yesterday?!?!?! (and it wasn't mine) I always thought it was cool her birthday was on april fool's day... but that also came with a lot of frustration. Why the heck wouldn't the kids in sunday school believe me that it was my cat's birthday? Who the heck would make up a lame joke like that? Not this girl. Luckily we've moved on to bigger and better jokes as we've all grown up and everyone has stopped being suspicious of her birthday. But life in 3rd grade was a real struggle. A real struggle.

So this week I decided to do a no makeup cleanse. (lipstick doesn't count because it makes everyone happy and keeps your lips from being chapped)
On the one hand I felt like my skin needed some time to breathe, but on the other hand... I felt like I was becoming too dependent on it. In a world that categorizes nice eyebrows and perfectly winged liner as "goals"... I wanted to focus on inward goals.
I felt like my self confidence was becoming more and more dependent on how on point my eyeliner was or how blended my eyeshadow was. I started to think of my real face less and less as my makeupless face, and more and more as my made up face.
Saturday my best friend Caitie texted me out of the blue and said that she was feeling the same way and doing the same thing, without me even telling her that I was! We've supported each other this week every time we (I) wanted to cave. :)
So basically while I still love makeup and think it's fun, I never want to get to the point where my self confidence hinges on it. My dad always told me "never get to the point where you can't go to the grocery store without makeup on". And I never want to be *that* person that reapplys makeup in the middle of a workout class. (I've seen it before)

I totally encourage all of you to do it for at least a week!!!!

Here We Go Again

Good afternoon! So I'm so sorry but I accidentally shut my laptop last night while my vlog was uploading and "cancelled" the upload. I'm re uploading it now so it should be up maybe tonight and definitely by tomorrow!

So I wasn't kidding when I said I'll be wearing spring skirts with black tights to pass the time. It really works because it feeds my need to wear springy/colorful stuff, but also my greater need to not be freezing. Win-win.

Also... I swear I forget every week that I teach Sunday school to the little kids (I've been doing it for a month, whoops), and every week I unfortunately wear a fitted pencil skirt. At least I was on time this week. (purely by luck, but they don't need to know that)

Oh yes that blurry hand though. Where can I sign up to go profesh?!?!? ;)

(I don't know what happened with the grain in the far away shots. It's like it just gave up on me.)

Fashion is Art

"There's an emotional element to anything you make" -Oscar de la Renta
Growing up it was never necessarily "cool" to be known as the girl that sews. When I was younger I never felt passionately about fashion or clothing. It wasn't until I started designing my own pieces that I saw the art behind it. Fashion is art, painting is art, and music is art. There are feelings and thoughts and people who inspire each piece, and behind each piece of art is someone who took the time to create it. To dream it up and bring it to life and either save it for themselves or to choose to share it with the world. Whether you feel passionate about drums or watercolors or designing dresses...let's not discriminate the way anyone else creates art. Let's celebrate art for what it is and appreciate everyone's way of creating it.

Oh and P.S..... YOU are art too and made by the PERFECT designer.

Blueberry

I think this is still one of my favorite bow skirts I've ever made. I mean... not to toot my own horn, but.... that color. Can you even? It's definitely one of my most worn bow skirts.
I think I like it so much because it reminds me of blueberries and blueberries are my all time fave of everything. Blueberry muffins with crumbly stuff on top? Favorite breakfast. Blueberry muffin girl on Strawberry Shortcake? Favorite Character. Blueberry candles? Probably my favorite scent ever if I had ever seen a blueberry scent candle.

(Low back tops are the real mvp)

So fresh
